WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Goshen lost to the #14 Grace Lancers on the road Saturday afternoon despite scoring more points per set as the match went along. Grace won 25-12, 25-20, 25-21.
Grace opened up the first set when a 6-0 run took their 6-4 lead up to 12-4. The eight point lead improved to a 13 point lead by the set's end. It appeared that the Lancers might run away with the second set as well, going up 21-11. However, Goshen would score nine more points, four from kills by
Bailee Brown. The Leafs made a comeback effort but Grace prevailed 25-20. Goshen led 11-8 in the third until the home team scored five points in a row. The Leafs held within two all the way until the end when Grace scored the last two to win 25-21.
Bailee Brown finished with 11 kills and
Sadie Brenneman had ten and a .242 hitting percentage. Brown's 11 kills are the most she has had in a match since August 31 against Governors State.
Alaina Wolfe's 16 digs are the most she has had since the team's match against Clarke, also on August 31.
Kassidy Faler added ten digs, her best since posting 12 at Taylor on September 4.
Kelsie Hankins had 22 assists and
Brenna Spangler had two aces and a block assist. Grace is 15-5 overall and 8-2 in the Crossroads League.
Goshen is at Spring Arbor on Wednesday, October 16, at 7:00 pm.
