Cougars roll by Goshen in Spring Arbor

Four players had eight or more digs for Goshen

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - Goshen lost in three sets on the road at Spring Arbor on Wednesday. The Cougars won 25-17, 25-20, 25-19.

Goshen scored seven of the first 13 points in the match before Spring Arbor scored 18 of the next 25. The Leafs stopped them three times when they were at match point with a kill by Armani Guidry-Austin and two from Bailee Brown, all assisted by Kelsie Hankins. However, a service error on Goshen gave SAU a 25-17 first set win.

The second set was close throughout until the very end. Goshen was down three when a Spring Arbor service error followed by a Bailee Brown ace meant the Cougars only held a 21-20 advantage. Then, Spring Arbor scored four in a row to win 25-20 - the longest scoring streak by either team in the set. They had a 6-0 run in the third to go up 12-7. The lead was six by the end as they won 25-19.

Sadie Brenneman had ten kills, nine digs and a .241 hitting percentage. Alaina Wolfe had nine digs, Kassidy Faler had eight and Kelsie Hankings added eight more. Hankins also had 23 assists. Bailee Brown, Sami Lard, Jaelyn Amhdar and Brenna Spangler all had aces for Goshen.

Goshen hosts Saint Francis on Saturday, October 19, at 3:00 pm. Seniors Sadie Brenneman and Jaelyn Amhdar will be recognized before the match for Senior Day. Be sure to wear purple to support the seniors and for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Prevention Intervention Network (PIN) club at Goshen College will have some programming around domestic violence at the match.
