SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - An early Goshen red card left the Maple Leafs down a man for most of the match at Spring Arbor on Wednesday night, where the Cougars prevailed 4-1. Spring Arbor is receiving votes in the coaches poll.
Jack Voight scored two early goals for the Cougars, his seventh and eighth goals this season. His first came in the second minute and his next was in the fifth.
Mathurin Allawai had a red card in the 13th minute and then SAU scored goal number three in the 15th minute. However, Goshen then held the Cougars scoreless for 65+ minutes.
In the second half, Goshen got on the board with
Tebello Ntene's eighth goal of the season on an assist from
Jorge Silva. This was Goshen's first goal against Spring Arbor since 2021, a 2-1 double overtime win.
Although three of their four goals came in the first half, 13 of Spring Arbor's 17 shots came in the second half. Ntene had two shots on goal for GC and Silva and
Jordan Ross Richer had one each.
Goshen is at #5 Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday, October 5, at 6:30 pm. The game had originally been scheduled for 7:00 pm but was moved up half an hour.
