GOSHEN, Ind. - Women's basketball fell to Saint Francis 83-67 on Saturday afternoon. The #18 Cougars remain undefeated at 9-0.
Saint Francis led the Maple Leafs 21-14 at the end of the first quarter, making eight of their 14 attempts with three coming from behind the arc. The lead grew by another three points in the second quarter and the visitors led 41-31 at the break. In the third, GC outscored Saint Francis 21-19.
Zion Neat was instrumental during this period, scoring 13 points on 5-5 shooting from the floor in the last 5:09, which contributed significantly to her third 20-point game of the season and the ninth of her GC career.
Goshen's 10-3 run late in the third quarter cut their deficit to six. However, the Leafs had three missed shots and five turnovers over the next nine possessions, going nearly seven minutes without a made field goal. By then, the Cougars had gone on a 21-2 run to go up by 21 points. In the fourth quarter, Saint Francis outscored the Leafs 23-15 and dominated in the paint with 12 points compared to GC's two.
Saint Francis, ranked #18 in the NAIA, improved to 9-0 with the win, coming off a 31-point victory against Taylor.
Zion Neat led the Maple Leafs with a standout performance, scoring 21 points on 8-15 shooting, including three three-pointers. Neat also contributed two rebounds and three assists.
Syanne Mohamed was pivotal on the boards, securing ten rebounds in addition to her 13 points and achieving her 12th career double-double, with a career-high nine free throws made.
Ava Lickliter made a notable impact with eight points, three assists, and three steals.

Zoe Zellers each had season-highs with three steals.
