Leafs set school record for three-pointers made in win against Kuyper College

The 26 threes made by GC is tied for the third-most in NAIA history

GOSHEN, Ind. - Men's basketball put an end to their losing streak in emphatic fashion on Wednesday afternoon in Goshen. GC made 26 threes, tied for the third-most in NAIA history, en route to a 113-95 win over Kuyper College.

Goshen's 26 three-pointers are a school record and the 113 points are their most in a game since putting up 117 in a win against East-West on December 9, 2017. However, it is the 27th time in GC history that the Leafs have scored 113 or more.

Andre Bradford started the three-point parade with 16:37 to go in the first half to give the Leafs a 9-3 lead. Goshen later hit three in a row from Bradford, Judah Simfukwe and then Bradford again and the Leafs were up 24-9. Goshen led by as many as 29 in the first half and had 61 points on the scoreboard as they headed into the halftime break. In the first half, Goshen made 66.7% of their shots and went 65.0% from three. They also made all four of their free-throw attempts.

The Maple Leafs cooled off in the second half and allowed the Cougars to score 58 points in the half. Yet the Leafs still put up an impressive 52 points to win by 18. Only 21.2% of Goshen's points were scored in the paint. Comparatively, it made up 48.4% of Kuyper's offensive production.

Four GC players had four or more three-pointers - Andre Bradford, Jacob Carlson, Judah Simfukwe and Richard Wilson. Bradford finished seven for nine from three with 25 points. Carlson was 6-10 from deep with 20 points. Marcus Northern nearly had a triple-double with ten points, nine assists and eight boards. He also added three steals to the mix. Simfukwe scored 18, Kevin Cota had 12 and Wilson contributed 13.

Goshen shot 56.5% from three, their best mark since going 7-12 against Graceland on October 30, 2021. The NAIA record for three-pointers made in a game is 29 by Multnomah (Ore.) against New Hope (Ore.) in 2016. Alice Lloyd (Ky.) had 27 in a game from 1993 and Freed-Hardeman had 26 in a 2020 contest.

Goshen (1-3) is at IU Indy on Tuesday, November 12, at 6:30 pm.
