GOSHEN, Ind. - The Goshen Maple Leafs ended a four-game losing skid and captured their fourth win of the season in a high-scoring 107-96 victory over Midway University on Monday evening. Goshen is 4-7 this season.
The Eagles from Kentucky went up 7-2 early, but the Maple Leafs countered with a 16-2 run in a span of less than three minutes. Although Midway closed a 21-point GC lead to four points in the second half, Goshen managed to extend and maintain their lead with a 9-1 run.
Goshen has scored 100 or more point in two games this season. Before this year, they hadn't had 100 points in a game since 2017-18. The Leafs had a field goal percentage of 54% and made 14 threes and 38 field goals. Those are all their second-highest totals this year behind the win against Kuyper.
Tariq Humes had his first game with 20+ points - a season-high of 21. He was held to 11 combined points in the last two games combined and nearly doubled that. It is his eight game scoring in double figures and his four three-pointers made was a season-high.
Richard Wilson had 21 points as well, his third game this year with 20 or more points.
Judah Simfukwe had season highs in field goals (eight), assists (four) and steals (two).
Marcus Northern played a season-high 32 minutes and totaled 16 points with nine assists. Northern has set or matched his season-high in points in the last three games he has played.
Kevin Cota had 12 points and three assists.
Looking ahead, the Maple Leafs will face Aquinas College in Grand Rapids on December 19.
