GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Goshen lost to Aquinas after holding a halftime lead on Thursday evening in Grand Rapids. Despite the Leafs having four scorers with 10+ points, the Saints prevailed 82-73.
The Maple Leafs had as much as a 14-point lead in the first half when they were up 25-11 midway through. The lead diminished down to one by the half. The teams were tied 43-43 with under 16 minutes to go in the second half, but Aquinas took the lead from that point on.
Tariq Humes had 17 points and eight rebounds for the Maple Leafs.
Judah Simfukwe added 17 more and
Braden Allen had 12 points on 5-6 shooting and a perfect 2-2 at the line.
DJ Bryant scored ten points off the bench with four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Goshen had a better field goal and free-throw percentage than Aquinas but lost the rebound battle by 16.
The Leafs play an exhibition game at Findlay on Saturday, December 21, at 3:00 pm.
