FINDLAY, Ohio - Goshen shot nearly 50% from three in the first half, but a strong second half from the Oilers led to a 97-64 win for Findlay on Saturday afternoon. This was an exhibition game for Goshen. Findlay is ranked #25 in NCAA Division II and improved to 10-1 with the win.
Findlay went up 11-0 early, and Goshen had to use a timeout when they were down 8-0. The Leafs had a 24-9 run to go up by four and had the lead for nearly four minutes of the game. Goshen was 6-13 from three in the first half while the home team was 5-21.
Findlay had an 11-0 run early in the second half, which saw their 45-41 lead balloon to a 56-41 advantage. Their field goal percentage improved from 42% in the first half to 60% in the second, whereas Goshen's dropped from 42% to 33%. Both teams took 13 attempts from three in the second half, but the Oilers made eight of them while Goshen connected on just four.
Andre Bradford scored 15 points and had four rebounds for Goshen in just 13 minutes.
Baran Aslan had eight points and five rebounds in 19 minutes of play. He went 2-3 from behind the arc.
Kevin Cota had eight points and four rebounds, making four of his five shot attempts.
Marcus Northern had 13 points and made three threes but also had six turnovers.
The team is off through Christmas and will be in action next on the road at St. Francis (Ill.) on Monday, December 30, at 2:00 pm. St. Francis is receiving votes in the most recent coaches poll.
