Leafs tie season-low in turnovers but lose to SAU by 15

Deecon Hill scored a season high with nine points

GOSHEN, Ind. - The Goshen men's basketball team found themselves in an early 20-point deficit against Spring Arbor on Wednesday but outscored them by 12 in the second half in a 76-61 loss. Judah Simfukwe had a second-straight game with 24 points.

The Cougars were up 21-0 to start the game. Goshen first scored on free throws with 10:56 to go in the first half and hit their first field goal with 8:39 to go. But after that early hole, Goshen outscored Spring Arbor 61-55 for the rest of the action.

Goshen shot a dismal 15.4% in the first half but a much improved 57.7% in the second. Similarly, they shot 8.3% from three in the first half and 62.5% from downtown in the second. Additionally, the Leafs allowed 37 fewer points to the SAU offense than when the teams met in Spring Arbor just over a month ago.

Goshen tied a season-low by only turning the ball over six times. Simfukwe scored 24 points with four rebounds and only had one turnover in 34 minutes played. Kevin Cota and Josh Similien each had 11 points and five rebounds.

Deecon Hill scored nine points in his eighth game as a Maple Leaf. He set season highs in minutes played, field goals made and attempted, three-pointers made and attempted, and points. He was 3-6 from three.
