Three women's basketball seniors were recognized after the game. Below is what was said about each senior.
First to be recognized is #23,
Sophia Eli! Sophia is being escorted by her parents Art and Rebecca Eli. She is a nursing major and plans to take the NCLEX this summer to receive her compact nursing license. She hopes to be an emergency department nurse in the future in either Ohio or Indiana. Coach Miller says, "Sophia has been a leader, the voice, and an anchor for our team over the last several years. On the court I have enjoyed watching her bring a spark every time she touches the floor, and the way she wills herself to get a big defensive stop, rebound, or a bucket when we need it. Off the court I most appreciate her leadership and the passion she puts into the things and people she loves." Thank you, Sophia!
Next, we have #0,
Nay Butler! Nay is being escorted by her parents Shalonda and Mose Butler, her grandmother Linda Landrum and her godmother Decerrie Riley. She is a psychology major and plans on attending grad school to become a sports psychologist. Coach Miller says, "Nay has brought a veteran maturity and perspective to our locker room. On the court, she is a spunky defender, an excellent ball handler who can break a press, and can also hit a shot or deliver a pass to help lift the offense. Off the court, she is a caring & thoughtful teammate, has a sneaky sarcastic sense of humor, and provides a maturity and perspective to our team that shows respect to all different types of players needs." Thank you, Nay!
Let's congratulate #22,
Zion Neat! Zion is being escorted by her head coach
Stephanie Miller. She is a social work major and would like to either work in law enforcement or as a high school social worker and assistant basketball coach. Coach Miller says, "Zion brings a light and positive energy to every room she enters. On the court she is no doubt an impactful & dangerous three-level scorer, plays with creativity and with a passion for continual growth, can grab big boards or set others up with strong passes, and is often a leader in crunch time who is capable and willing to take a big shot. What I appreciate most about Zion is her willingness to go out of her way to support & serve others, as well as her personal work ethic and desire to grow both as a player, and a person." Thank you, Zion!
