SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - For the second game in a row, the Goshen men's soccer team had a 2-0 deficit at halftime and lost 2-1 by the end of the game.
Kingsley Kanu scored for the Leafs against Lawrence Tech on Wednesday afternoon.
The game was scoreless until there were less than seven minutes to go in the first half. Marc Martin scored the first goal for the Blue Devils and less than five minutes later, LTU scored a second from Jacob Schleicher. Similarly, the two goals that Madonna scored against Goshen on Saturday were within 90 seconds of each other.
In the second half,
Kingsley Kanu received a solid pass from
Tebello Ntene along the left side. After some dribbling, he took a shot off his right foot just to the right of the keeper to put the Leafs on the board. Kanu had another shot in the 85th minute that went high.
Kanu, a sophomore who transferred from Graceland University, finished with the two shots.
Arturo Hernandez-Barrera had a shot on goal and
Adrian Gonzalez Martinez and
Martin Gonzales also had shots.
Gregor Rommelspacher made three saves. Goshen and Lawrence Tech have played a one-score game in all six of their matchups since 2012, with LTU winning four of them.
Goshen hosts Concordia (Mich.) at home on Saturday, August 24, at 5:00 pm. The women's team plays later that night at 7:00 pm against Cornerstone.
