GOSHEN, Ind. - Goshen women's volleyball lost to #16 Mount Vernon Nazarene 16-25, 15-25, 23-25 on Saturday afternoon in Gunden Gymnasium. The Cougars improved to 17-1 with the win with their only loss being to the defending NAIA national champion Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats.
The Cougars won the first five points of the match and the Leafs never held a lead in the first set. MVNU used a long 8-0 run in the second set to win 25-15. The third set appeared to be much of the same as the visitors racked up a 9-3 advantage, but then the Maple Leafs went on a 6-0 run with
Sadie Brenneman serving. Three of those six points were her own aces and the first point came from one of her ten kills in the contest.
Goshen led as late as 21-20, but then Mount Vernon had four straight points to get to match point at 24-21. Kills by freshmen

Ava Egolf brought Goshen within a point but the Cougars scored the next on a kill to win 25-23.
Kelsie Hankins surpassed 1,500 career assists in the match. The sophomore totaled 19 in the match with four kills on seven attack attempts. She also added six digs.
Alaina Wolfe led the team with 11 digs. Brenneman's 45 total attack attempts is the most she has had for a three-set match.
