HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Goshen men's soccer team started Crossroads League play with a 3-0 loss at Huntington. The Leafs had no first half shots and nine in the second half.
Huntington got on the board early with goals in the 7th and 11th minutes. The Foresters posted 12 first half shots while Goshen hadn't taken one at that point. HU scored another goal early in the second half to make it 3-0.
Goshen's first shot came in the 52nd minute, but then they came in bunches. Simones took a shot in the 53rd minute and another in the 54th that was saved. Later in the half after a Huntington yellow card, Goshen had three shot attempts within four minutes. Two of the three were on frame and saved by Huntington goalkeeper Dan Pellegrine. Goshen outshot Huntington 9-4 in the second half but couldn't find the back of the net.
Pellegrine made five saves for the home team.
Gregor Rommelspacher made four saves, giving up three goals. Simones had two shots, both on goal. Iker Fernandes-Andes led the team with three shot attempts.
The Maple Leafs (3-4-3, 0-1 CL) host Marian on Saturday, September 28, at 1:00 pm. Marian is receiving votes in the coaches poll. Goshen's next three opponents are either receiving votes or are ranked.
