GOSHEN, Ind. - In a wild, back-and-forth game, the Goshen and Marian men's soccer teams tied 3-3 on Saturday. Goshen had lost their last four matches against the Knights and Marian was currently receiving votes in the coaches poll.

The last time Goshen scored three goals against the Knights was in 2019 - current assistant coach Henrique Eichenberger scored the first goal of that game on a free kick from 25 yards out. Today, it took less than four minutes until Goshen was on the board. Mathurin Allawai tapped in a cross from Eli Simones and Goshen led 1-0. Marian scored in the 22nd and 38th minutes and led 2-1 at the half, even though Goshen led in corner kicks 6-0 and shots 8-6.

Tebello Ntene scored on a penalty kick in the 66th minute to tie the game and just a couple of minutes later, Jordan Ross Richer scored his first goal as a Leaf on a deep shot when the goalie was out of the box. Ntene earned the assist on the play. However, Marian scored in the 76th minute to tie the game again.

With about two and a half minutes to go, Kingsley Kanu received a cross from Stephen Bandi and put it past the keeper in what appeared to be Goshen's fourth goal. However, the play was called offsides and the score remained knotted up. With just over a minute to go, Pedro Vebber made a crucial save off a Marian header to keep the score tied.

Goshen finished with 18 shots and Marian had 11. The Maple Leafs (3-4-4, 0-1-1 CL) are at Spring Arbor on Wednesday, October 2, at 7:00 pm. Like the Knights, the Cougars are also receiving votes in the coaches poll.
