GOSHEN, Ind. - Goshen lost in three sets to #22 Marian at home on Saturday afternoon. Freshman
Jessie Price led the Leafs in digs with ten, the second 10+ dig match of her collegiate career.
The Knights improve to 15-3 overall with the win. Marian ended the first set on a 6-0 run. They led 14-3 in the second set and still held a significant 23-12 lead when Goshen rattled off seven points in a row. Three of the points came by kills from
Sadie Brenneman. That put Goshen within four, but Marian scored two of the next three to win 25-20. Goshen was consistently within two points in the third set until about midway through when the Knights created some separation on the way to a 25-15 win.
Price had ten digs and Brenneman and
Alaina Wolfe had nine apiece. Brenneman had 11 kills and
Kelsie Hankins totaled 21 assists with seven digs. Hankins has six kills and no attack errors on eight attempts in the last two matches. Marian had ten blocks and eight aces as a team.
Goshen is at Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday, October 2, at 7:00 pm. The Wildcats are the defending NAIA national champions and hold a 15-2 overall record and remain undefeated in the conference at 8-0.
