GOSHEN, Ind. - The Goshen women's volleyball team lost their first home Crossroads League match of the season on Saturday to #21 Grace. The Lancers won 25-17, 25-17, 25-19.
Grace controlled the first set, and never let Goshen have a lead in the second, although the Leafs were within three midway through. Goshen had a two-point four times in the third set, but after
Alaina Wolfe's third ace of the match, Grace scored six straight to go up 24-17. A couple of
Sadie Brenneman kills made it 24-19 before Grace sealed it with a kill from Brea Harris to get the final point.
Wolfe had three aces, with two being back-to-back.
Sadie Brenneman and
Brenna Spangler each had an ace as well. Brenneman totaled nine kills with a .320 hitting percentage and five digs. She is five kills away from having 1,000 for her career and two aces away from 100.
Kelsie Hankins had 20 assists, her seventh straight match with 20 or more.
Kassidy Faler and Hankins had the team lead in digs with six each.
Grace is now 7-2 with the win. Goshen hosts Spring Arbor on Wednesday, September 11, at 8:00 pm. The women's soccer team is at home earlier that evening at 6:00 pm.
