GOSHEN, Ind. - Zion Neat surpassed her 1,000th career point at Goshen on her first shot attempt of the game at the 7:58 minute mark of the first quarter. Neat went on to score 20 of her 22 points in the first half as the Foresters won 67-63.
The Foresters took an early lead at the end of the first quarter, 21-14. The Leafs however outscored the Foresters 23-15 to take a one-point advantage at halftime, 37-36.Â
The Maple Leafs struggled to find their groove in the third quarter, turning the ball over seven times while shooting three of 14 from the field for 21.4%. The Foresters capitalized off the Maple Leafs scoring drought, outscoring the Leafs 20-7 in the quarter, and extending their lead to 14 going into the fourth quarter.Â
The Leafs remained resilient, making a strong push in the fourth quarter, holding Huntington to only two made field goals in the quarter. The Foresters cashed in at the free throw line making seven of their ten attempts.Â

Kiana Oelling sparked the Leafs on a 9-3 run to cut the deficit down to as little as two points.
Ava Lickliter scored six of the team's nine points during that run. The Foresters sealed the deal at the free-throw line, coming out victorious with a final score of 67-63.
Zion Neat became the 20th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points. Prior to transferring to Goshen, Neat scored 866 points during her two years at Columbia International University. After today's 22 point performance, Neat moves to 19th All-Time in Goshen history with 1,021 points, surpassing her current teammate
Syanne Mohamed, who currently sits at 1,011. Neat currently has 1,887 career points and only needs 113 points to reach 2,000 career points.Â
Neat is the first person in GC history to score 1,000 points while only playing three years, but the seventh player to do it in their third season. Neat also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds to make it her first career double-double at Goshen.Â
Syanne Mohamed scored 11 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and added three blocks. Mohamed's three blocks brings her career total to 80, which puts her third all-time in GC history, surpassing Cassie Greives. Mohamed only needs five blocks to pass Margene Murdent for second all-time in blocks.Â
Ava Lickliter posted a solid stat line with 11 points, five steals, and three assists. Lickliter's five steals ties a career high.Â
With the first half of conference play wrapping up, the Leafs are 3-6 in league play. The team will have a bye week before opening up the second half of conference play with a 1:00 pm home game against Bethel on January 25th.Â
