Mohamed brings down 18 rebounds during loss in Winona Lake

The Leafs were outscored 21-2 in the second quarter

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - A lopsided second quarter made the difference in Goshen's loss at Grace on Saturday afternoon. The Lancers won 65-53 despite Syanne Mohamed's season-high 18 rebounds.

Goshen had a 14-13 lead after the first quarter, but in the second they were outscored 21-2. The Leafs made just one of 13 field goal attempts in the quarter. Grace was held to shooting 21% in the first quarter but improved drastically to 67% in the next quarter.

The Maple Leafs outscored the Lancers by six in the last two quarters, but the deficit from the second quarter was too much to overcome. Goshen has not scored 60+ points in their last seven matchups with Grace.

Syanne Mohamed had a double-double with 11 points and 18 rebounds. The 18 rebounds and eight offensive rebounds are season-highs. Zion Neat had 15 points but shot just 7-22. Her 22 shot attempts was a career-high and it was her fifth-straight game in double figures. Zoe Zellers finished with 11 points - her second double-digit scoring game of the week, her third of the season and the 12th of her career. Ava Lickliter had four points, five rebounds and three assists. Lillian Null added five points and tied her best of four assists in a conference game.

Goshen (7-7, 1-4 CL) hosts Spring Arbor on Wednesday, January 8, at 5:30 pm.
