PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. - After a win over Stephens College to start the Trolls Invite at Trinity Christian College, the GC women's volleyball team lost both matches on day two of the tournament. Goshen lost to the host, Trinity Christian, in four sets - 25-23, 17-25, 21-25, 22-25. Then the Leafs lost to St. Francis (Ill.) - 13-25, 19-25, 17-25.

Goshen put down 15 kills in the first set, but they had just 17 in the next three sets combined. The Trolls led 6-2 in the set and led as late as 23-22. However, Goshen scored the last three points on a kill from
Addison Ross, a Trinity Christian attack error and then a kill by
Carmin Corey.
The Trolls consistently put up at least 12 kills in each set. Goshen had just three in the second set, compared to six attack errors. GC scored the first five points of the third set but TCC had a 9-1 run in the middle of the set. The Leafs took a 23-17 deficit and came back within two points until the Trolls scored the last two in the set to win by four. They led 11-2 and then 16-6 in the fourth set. Goshen had a 16-7 scoring run to come within one but it wasn't quite enough.
Goshen had seven blocks and eight aces. The eight aces are their most in a match since August 30, but the Trolls had eight aces as well.
Armani Guidry-Austin had four block assists and five kills.
Carle Bruggema had three aces, 11 assists and eight digs.
Amelie Martinez led the team in kills with seven and
Alaina Wolfe had 19 digs, her highest match total since August 30.
Goshen vs St. Francis (Ill.)
St. Francis immediately went on a 12-0 scoring run to start Goshen's second match of the day. Seven of the points came from attack errors by the Leafs. Each team scored 13 of the next 26 points, but the damage had already been done. Goshen scored the first four in the second set and went up 17-13. But from that point on, St. Francis went on a 12-2 scoring run and won the set. GC led as late as 15-14 in the third set, but the Saints had another strong finish where they won 11 of the last 13 points.
Goshen led in blocks and aces.
Armani Guidry-Austin had two block assists and four kills, Nevaeh Benjamnin had two block assists and five kills.
Sydney Stutsman had 17 assists and six digs.
Addison Ross led the team in kills with seven and
Alaina Wolfe led in digs with eight.
