FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Freshmen
Nasiya Gause and
Paulecia Isom led the way for Goshen women's basketball on Saturday on the second day of the USF Classic. Goshen earned the 77-63 win over Viterbo and got their first win of the season.
Goshen was already up 20-10 by the end of the first quarter with six points from
Kyla Foster. Viterbo played stronger in the next quarter, and the Leafs were only up two at the half. The lead extended to four by the third quarter's end, but Goshen scored 24 in the fourth to win by 14. The Leafs made 12 of their 13 fourth-quarter free throws and went 5-10 from the field and 2-4 from three.
GC finished the day with 25 free throws made, their most in a game since February 24, 2024 against Huntington. Naisya Gause scored 17 points in her 16 minutes off the bench and hit all eight of her free throws.
Paulecia Isom scored 16 points in 19 minutes, making 8-9 free throws with a team-high seven rebounds.
Kyla Foster scored 11 and five rebounds and five assists to go with it.
Goshen faces Southeastern in the Patriot Classic at the University of the Cumberlands on Thursday, November 6, at 6:00 pm eastern. They'll face Cumberlands on Friday at 11:00 am eastern. Southeastern is receiving votes and Cumberlands is ranked #25.
