GOSHEN, Ind. - Marcus Northern, Goshen's leading scorer this season, scored 21 points in a 76-112 loss to Bethel in the Crossroads League home opener for the Maple Leafs. Bethel is ranked #15 in the NAIA.
The Pilots quickly scored the first seven points of the game in the first two minutes and they kept a double-figures lead with 14 minutes to go in the first half until the game's end. GC put up an impressive 45 points in the second half, and they finished with the most points they have scored against the Pilots since January 15, 2022 - eight matchups prior. However, the 112 points given up is the most Goshen has allowed in a regulation game this season.
Northern had his third 20-point game of the season. Comparatively, he only had two 20-point games in each of the last two seasons. He had six or more rebounds for the sixth game this year and today was the fifth time he was perfect at the foul line.
Tyrelle Hunt scored 16 and
Kamren Williams had 12. Williams had four steals, while he had three in the rest of the season combined.
Kevin Cota had five points and six rebounds with a season-high four offensive rebounds.
Carson Smith scored a season-high four points in his two minutes off the bench.
