GOSHEN, Ind. - Goshen had a strong first two quarters but lost to the Pilots in the first home Crossroads League game of the season. Bethel improved to 6-1 on the season with an 85-58 win.
Kyla Foster hit a three to open the game and Bethel didn't make their first field goal until there was less than five minutes to go in the first quarter. They did hit six free-throws in the quarter, though, and were up 13-12 after one. Goshen's strongest offensive quarter was the second, but it was also one of the best for the Pilots.
Lillian Null gave Goshen a two-point lead after hitting a three-pointer just 14 seconds into the quarter. Bethel took the lead for good with eight minutes to go and they were up by double-digits with seven minutes left in the third until the end.
Zy'Ann Phinezy had 17 points for Goshen, tied for her second-most this season. She had two of Goshen's eight steals - her fifth game this year with multiple steals. Lucia Luque Morales had a career-high three assists. Off the bench,
Carrie Hiler scored nine points from three three-pointers and
Ava Egolf scored eight. Bethel controlled the board 52-20. 21 of the Bethel rebounds were on the offensive end.
