UPLAND, Ind. - Marcus Northern tied a career-high with 24 points, but the Goshen men's basketball team lost on the road at Taylor. The Trojans won 89-70 to improve to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the Crossroads League.
Goshen's last lead in the game was at 10-9. Taylor went on a 7-0 run from that point, which made most of the difference in their 41-33 lead at the half. They outscored the Leafs by 11 points in the second half. The Trojans outrebounded the Maple Leafs 45-31, and they brought down the offensive rebound on 44% of their missed shots. The home team led in points in the paint 44-30 and second-chance points 17-3.
Northern tied his career-high, set back on November 1 against Northwestern Ohio, with 24 points. It is his eighth career 20-point game, and three of those have come against Taylor. He was 8-18 from the field, 3-6 from three, and a perfect 5-5 at the free-throw line. He had five rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Tyrelle Hunt tied a season-high with three steals, and
Kamren Williams did the same with four steals.
Kenny May scored eight points and
Braden Allen and
Kevin Cota had seven each.
Goshen will be heading down to Florida to face New College of Florida on Monday, December 15, at 2:00 pm before taking on Webber International on Tuesday, December 16, at noon.
