Maple Leafs lose to Wildcats in final home game

Goshen scores 54 points in second half, five score in double figures

GOSHEN, Ind. - The Goshen men's basketball team lost their final home game of the season on Wednesday night against Indiana Wesleyan. The Wildcats improved to 19-8 on the year with a 104-85 win.

Goshen put up 54 points in the second half and outscored IWU by three in the half, but they were already down 22 going into the break. The Leafs cut the lead down to 13 with ten minutes left to play but IWU went on a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 20. Both teams shot the ball over 50%, and Goshen even shot over 50% from three, making 14 of those 26 attempts. The Wildcats had eight more rebounds and 14 fewer turnovers, which led to 24 more shot attempts than Goshen.

Goshen had five players score in double figures. Richard Wilson led the way with 23 points, five rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal. He made four of his six three-point attempts and scored 20+ points for the seventh time this season. Saiveon Williams scored 13 points in 20 minutes off the bench, hitting three threes. DJ Bryant, Judah Simfukwe and Marcus Northern had 12 points apiece. Bryant made five of his seven shot attempts and had four assists. This was his fifth double-digit scoring game of the season and his third in a row. Northern has now scored in double figures in six straight games.

The Maple Leafs end the year on the road at #14 Huntington on Saturday, February 22, at 3:00 pm.
