GOSHEN, Ind. - Goshen was in a battle for the first three quarters of their game with #12 Grace on Saturday. However, the Lancers pulled through to improve to 20-4 this season with a dominant final ten minutes, winning 82-59.
Goshen was down just three at the half and held the Lancers to shooting 1-7 from three in the first half. Similarly, Goshen was down four to Grace last year at the half when Grace was ranked #1 in the NAIA. And like that game, the Lancers started connecting later as the game went on.
Grace made only one of their threes in the first half, but only missed one of their attempts in the second, going 5-6. The visitors led 59-52 with 9 minutes to go when they started a 12-0 run to go up 71-52. The lead kept increasing until they were up 23 by the game's end.
Goshen held Grace to their fewest points among the last six matchups between the two teams.
Marcus Northern scored 19 for Goshen with five rebounds and two steals.
Braden Allen scored in double figures for the third time this season and second time in as many games.
Juraj Minarovjech had seven points and shot 3-6.
DJ Bryant led the team with three assists.
With the loss, Goshen is eliminated from Crossroads League tournament contention. The Leafs are at Spring Arbor on Wednesday, February 12, at 5:00 pm.
