GOSHEN, Ind. - In their home opener, the Goshen women's volleyball team lost to IU-Northwest in four sets, with three that were determined by two points. The RedHawks won 28-26, 25-20, 23-25, 28-26.
Goshen had 12 attack errors in the first set, but the two teams had nearly identical hitting percentages, both under .090. Goshen had two set points in the first set at 24-23 and 25-24. IU-Northwest scored nine points in a row in the second set on their way to a five-point win. The Leafs lost a four-point lead late in the third set but rallied to win by two. Then, GC had three set points in the fourth set but failed to score when they needed to. IU-Northwest was able to on the first chance they got, winning 28-26.
The Maple Leafs had more kills, assists and digs in the match than their opponent.
Brenna Spangler and
Addison Ross had 12 kills each and
Sami Lard had ten.
Sydney Stutsman had 27 assists and
Kelsie Hankins added 11.
Alaina Wolfe led the team in digs with 19 and Lard wasn't far behind with 17. Goshen's 17 service errors were the most they've had in a match since September 1, 2023.
