INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Maple Leafs women's soccer team lost to the #4 team in the NAIA, the Marian Knights, on Saturday night in Indianapolis. The Knights won 8-0.
Marian got on the scoreboard quickly in the third minute, and later added first half goals in the 31st and 38th minutes. They had 17 shots in the first half. Goshen had one - a shot on goal from
Evyn Pruett.
In the second half, the Knights added goals in the 49th, 55th, 62nd, 74th and 77th minutes. Katie Koger was the only player to score twice, with the goals in the third and 62nd minutes. Marian ended with 37 shots and 20 on goal.
Aina Lopez made eight saves and allowed five goals in 64 minutes of action. For the remaining 26 minutes,
Isaura Toledo made four saves and allowed three goals. Goshen, currently riddled with injuries, used five substitutes while Marian used 14.
Before tonight's game, the Maple Leafs hadn't allowed any of their opponents to score more than three goals in a game this season.
The Leafs host Taylor on Wednesday, October 1, at 6:30 pm.
