Three goals in five minutes lifts Saints past Maple Leafs

The teams were scoreless for nearly the first 75 minutes of the match

GOSHEN, Ind. - Goshen held Holy Cross College scoreless for nearly 75 minutes on Wednesday evening. Yet once the Saints got one in, they quickly ran the score up. HCC came out on top 3-0.

The visitors had outshot the Maple Leafs 9-3 in the first half, but Goshen was able to prevent any of the chances from finding the back of the net. However, in the second half, they outshot GC by an even wider 16-2 margin.

In the 75th minute, Abigail Fouts scored a goal, and just over a minute later her teammate Erika Perez scored the second goal of the game. Perez added another in just three minutes later to make it 3-0. The three goals came in a span of four minutes and 33 seconds.

Holy Cross finished with 25 shots, ten shots on goal and 11 corner kicks. Aina Lopez made seven saves for the Leafs. This was the first time she allowed three goals in a game since August 19, 2024 at Arizona Christian. Sophia Yoder and May Boudreau each had two shots and one shot on goal for Goshen. Laura Castro also had one shot.

Goshen (1-1-2) is at Cornerstone on Saturday, September 6, at 1:00 pm.
