GOSHEN, Ind. - In the Crossroads League season opener, Goshen lost to Taylor in three sets, despite two of them being within three points. The Trojans won 25-23, 25-17, 25-22. Taylor is now 10-3 this season and Goshen is 4-7.
Goshen scored the first three points of the match and led 11-8 before the Trojans scored seven in a row and forced a GC timeout. Goshen outscored the visitors 12-10 after that timeout, but it wasn't quite enough to eliminate the deficit, and TU took the set by two points.
The Leafs led 3-2 in the next set but Taylor had another nice run to go up 9-3. They were up 24-12, but a 5-0 Goshen run with
Sami Lard serving made the second set a more respectable 25-17 score. The teams were tied 21-21 in the third set but the Trojans ended on a 4-1 run.
Goshen dominated in the aces category 7-2. This season, the Leafs have totaled 96 aces compared to 72 for their opponents.
Addison Ross had eight kills to lead the Goshen attack and
Armani Guidry-Austin had a hitting percentage of .417.
Sydney Stutsman had 13 assists and
Kelsie Hankins had ten.
Kassidy Faler had three of Goshen's aces. Gudiry-Austin had three block assists and
Alaina Wolfe led the team with 16 digs.
GC (4-7, 0-1 CL) is at Grace on Saturday, September 6, at 1:00 pm.
