GOSHEN, Ind. - While they had a 13-0 run to start the third quarter, the Maple Leafs women's basketball team fell to Spring Arbor on Saturday afternoon in Ruth Gunden Gymnasium. The Cougars improved their record to 15-2 with a 72-44 win.
Spring Arbor was up 19-7 once the first quarter ended and after Goshen missed their first ten shots. The visitors led 41-20 at the half. However, the Leafs went on a 13-0 run in the first 5:12 of the third quarter to pull within eight. During that span, SAU went 0-8 while Goshen made six of their ten attempts. The Cougars answered with an 8-0 run to go up 16 and held that lead going into the fourth quarter. Goshen was held to just 1-12 shooting in the fourth quarter and SAU went on to win by 28.
Ava Egolf led all players on the court with 20 points - a career-high for a conference game. She shot 40% from the floor, went 1-2 from three and was 7-10 at the line. She had four rebounds and an assist as well. This was her third straight game with four or more rebounds and her seven free-throws is a career-high.
Nasiya Gause totaled eight points, with a season-high six rebounds as well as two steals.
Kyla Foster had 10+ rebounds for the second straight game and for the third time in the last four games. She also has 9+ rebounds in five of the last six games. Her three steals is a season-high.
Lillian Null had six rebounds and Lucia Luque Morales added five more. Goshen led in rebounds 39-35.
Goshen is at Mount Vernon Nazarene on Wednesday, January 14, at 5:00 pm.
