Egolf leads Goshen in tough night against #7 USF

GC defense limits Cougars to below their season scoring average

GOSHEN, Ind. - The #7 Saint Francis Cougars women's basketball team came into Goshen and took care of the Maple Leafs handily, winning 73-28. USF improved their record to 14-1 this season.

The Cougars quickly led 12-0 to start the game and Goshen made their first basket midway through the first quarter. Saint Francis led 21-7 at the end of the first and 38-14 at the half.

The Leafs scored eight or fewer points in each quarter. The GC defense held the visitors to less than their season average in points, and allowed just 11 in the fourth quarter. Ava Egolf led the Maple Leafs with ten points and tied a career-high with seven rebounds. She was 4-8 from the field and 2-5 behind the arc. Half of her career scoring has come in the last five games, where she is averaging 13 points per game in that span.

Lillian Null had seven points and five rebounds but shot just 1-10 from the field. She was 5-6 at the free-throw line. As a team, the Leafs finished with a shooting percentage of 18.4%. The Cougars made 49.1% of their attempts.
