HUNTINGTON, Ind. - A 14-0 Huntington run was the key to an 82-63Â Foresters win over the Goshen men's basketball team on Wednesday evening. The Foresters are receiving votes in the coaches poll and are now 12-4 overall while GC falls to 7-9.
The Maple Leafs had a strong start, leading 16-14 ten minutes into the game. Goshen hit two of their first three three-pointers while Huntington started 1-7 at that point.
Saiveon Williams made both of his first two three-point attempts. This was his first game with multiple threes made since facing Huntington on February 22 last season.
Goshen led 31-26 late in the first half. The Leafs held the Foresters to just 1-10 from deep to start the game, but the home team ended the half by connecting on five of their last six three-point attempts, including one at the buzzer. They had a 14-0 run in the last 3:18 to go up 39-31 at the break. The teams were even on rebounds and Goshen had the edge on three-point shooting - 46% to 38%.
Huntington continued their run and were up 56-43 when the Leafs used a timeout. While Goshen finished with a better three-point percentage, HU led in overall field goal percentage 46% to 35% by the end of their 19-point win.
Marcus Northern had 17 points and three of Goshen's five steals for the night.
Kamren Williams had 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Saiveon Williams finished with nine points off the bench - all in the first half. He added four rebounds and Goshen's lone block.
The Leafs host Spring Arbor on Saturday, January 10, at 3:00 pm.
