The Leafs were 11-12 at the free-throw line

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - The #16 Spring Arbor Cougars improved to 21-5 on the season after a 98-56 win over Goshen on Saturday afternoon on the Crossroads League's Jesus Won Day. Kyla Foster, Zy'Ann Phinezy and Paulecia Isom all scored in double figures for the Maple Leafs. This ends a stretch of five straight games where Goshen was playing an opponent that was either ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA coaches poll.

Turnovers proved costly for the Maple Leafs throughout. The Leafs had 19 turnovers in the first half of action and 15 in the second. Goshen's fewest turnovers came in the third quarter, which was also the quarter where they scored the most points. After scoring 19 points in the first 20 minutes, GC put up 24 in the third quarter alone. The third was also the quarter where Goshen allowed the most points, giving up 32 to the Cougars.SAU capitalized on Goshen's mistakes, with exactly half of their 98 points coming off of turnovers.

Paulecia Isom had ten points off the bench as well with three assists to her name.

Jesus Won Day is a league-wide initiative to share with the world why and how Jesus has won in our lives. Players, staff and fans of both team wore shirts saying "Jesus Won" on the front in their team colors.
