Foster hits double-double as Goshen falls at #6 Saint Francis

Goshen held USF to 13 first-quarter points

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - In their eighth game against a ranked opponent this season, the Goshen women's basketball team lost at Saint Francis on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars won 74-41 and improved to 22-2 for the season.

Coming off the heels of a 73-64 upset win against Taylor, a team receiving votes in the NAIA coaches poll, Goshen held USF to 13 points in the first quarter, though the Leafs only had nine of their own. The Cougars went 8-12 from the field in the second quarter and extended their lead to 36-19 at the half. They outscored the Maple Leafs 38-22 in the last two quarters.

GC outrebounded Saint Francis 27-22, but had 11 more turnovers and didn't make a three-pointer after the first quarter, finishing 2-19 from deep. The Cougars also capitalized when they were at the line, making 13 of 14 free-throws.

Kyla Foster had 11 points and 13 rebounds for Goshen, making five of her six shot attempts. Ava Egolf and Kyla Smith had seven points each. Sarah Elfrey had six defensive rebounds and two blocks - her third straight game with two or more blocks.

Goshen hosts Huntington on Wednesday, February 11, at 5:30 pm.
