GOSHEN, Ind. - Women's volleyball welcomed the University of Saint Francis Cougars to the Ruth Gunden Gymnasium, where the Maple Leafs fell 25-13, 25-21, 25-15.

The Leafs got out to an early lead, courtesy of two kills from Armani Guidry-Austin before the Cougars went on a 10-2 run to bring the score to 11-4. From here, the Cougars never looked back. The Leafs biggest scoring run of the set was only two. Though they traded points back-and-forth with the Cougars late in the set, it was a GC attacking error that put the set to bed in favor of the Cougars.

The Cougars came out hot at the start of the second set, jumping out to a 5-0 lead, before an attack error gave Goshen their first point. With the score at 6-1, the Leafs went on a 8-0 run including three aces from Mary Osten and five attacking errors that led to the Leafs up 9-6 — forcing the Cougars into a timeout. The Leafs maintained their three point cushion until the Cougars tied the game at 16. From here, GC re-established their three point cushion, before an 8-2 run put the set to bed for the Cougars. 

 The Cougars and Leafs both went on 3-0 runs to start set number three, before the Cougars got into their rhythm. They led by seven points until the score was 20-15, before a 5-0 run put the match to bed, moving Goshen's record to 1-17 on the season.

Guidry-Austin had no attacking errors for the second time this season. Carmin Corey led the team in kills with eight, and Sydney Stutsman led the Leafs in assists with 14. 

The Maple Leafs are back in action on Saturday, Sep. 26, as they take on Grace College in Winona Lake, with first serve set for 1 p.m.
