Box Score UPLAND, Ind. — Less than 24 hours after the Goshen College volleyball team experienced the euphoria of a straight-set conference win, the Maple Leafs got the other side of the coin in a 25-15, 25-16, 25-11 loss at Taylor University on Saturday afternoon.
Kelly Arnold pounded out 12 kills for the Trojans (15-14, 11-7 Crossroads League), who finished with double-digit winners in each set and hit .204 for the match. Whitney Peterson had nine kills for Goshen (16-16, 6-11), which was hampered by 24 attack errors.
Kelsey Smith led Goshen with 12 assists, followed by Lisa Rodriguez with 10. Natalie Hubby posted a pair of solo blocks and Ciana Bonfiglio finished with the lone Maple Leaf ace.
Despite the defeat, Goshen clinched a spot in the conference tournament when ninth-place Marian lost at St. Francis. The Maple Leafs' final placing will be decided Wednesday night in the regular-season finale.
