Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Natalie Thorne made 17 saves, setting a career high for the second game in a row, and the Goshen College women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with Mount Vernon Nazarene in double overtime Wednesday night at the Goshen College Soccer Complex.
The visiting Cougars took 37 shots in 110 minutes, putting nearly half of them on frame, while Goshen's lone shot on goal came from Gina Berkey in the sixth minute. Mount Vernon Nazarene, which was ranked no. 20 in the NAIA coaches poll released Tuesday night, also took 12 of the match's 13 corner kicks.
Thorne made 14 saves Saturday night at Taylor in another double-overtime match. The Trojans scored with 64 seconds left before a draw would have been declared, however: Wednesday night, Thorne posted her fifth career shutout to move into sixth on the GC career shutout list.
Goshen improves its record to 4-8-1 this season and 0-3-1 in conference play. Mount Vernon Nazarene is 8-4-1 and 1-2-1. Goshen hosts Indiana Wesleyan University at 7 p.m. Saturday.
