Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. — The Goshen College volleyball team returned to its winning ways Tuesday night with a four-set, non-conference win (25-16, 21-25, 26-24, 25-20) over Anderson University at Gunden Gymnasium.
The Maple Leafs raced out to a 10-3 lead in the first stanza and never allowed the Ravens to get closer than four points. The third set started similarly before Anderson won seven points out of eight (including consecutive aces from Fairfield graduate Riley Troyer). After an 18-18 tie, a three-point Goshen run was answered by three Raven points in a row, but kills from Meghan Gerke and Whitney Peterson gave Goshen the two-sets-to-one lead.
Six Goshen players registered kills in the final set: 11 kills from Katy Anspach led the Maple Leafs, followed by eight from Lexa Magnuson (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial). Kelsey Smith (22 assists) and Lisa Rodriguez (20) both cracked the 20-dig plateau, and three blocks from Natalie Hubby led all players.
Goshen (6-2) travels to Marian University for a conference match at 7 p.m. Friday. Anderson is 0-1.
