Box Score

GOSHEN, Ind. — Anneliese Baer scored twice, setting a new career-high goal total two games into her senior season, as the Goshen College women's soccer team defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph 4-1 Wednesday night at the Goshen College Soccer Complex.

Melanie Drinkwater opened the scoring for Goshen in the sixth minute, tallying on a cross from Kate Crawford. Baer added her first goal on a through ball from Kate Vendrely with 29:29 left in the half, and a Calumet goal with 12:31 to play made the score 2-1 entering halftime.

The scoreboard didn't change again for nearly an hour until Lana Smucker cleaned up a loose ball at the far post for her first career goal with 12:51 remaining. Ardys Woodward was credited with the assist. In the final minute, Baer added another score, her third of the year, after a Crimson Wave giveaway in the penalty area.

The Maple Leafs held a slight shot edge, 21-19, but more than half of Goshen's shots were on target (11 of 21), as opposed to 5 of 19 for Calumet.

Goshen (2-0) visits Madonna University in Michigan Saturday for a 5 p.m. kickoff. Calumet is 1-2.
