MILWAUKEE — Taylor Roasa set a new career 14 points for Goshen and Carley O'Neal also hit double digits with 10 points, but a strong second half from Judson University powered the Eagles to a 78-62 win over the Maple Leafs in women's basketball Saturday at the Cardinal Stritch Classic.

Five Maple Leafs scored in the opening stanza for Goshen (0-4), led by O'Neal with a pair of buckets for five points. Judson (2-2) was ready for challenge, shooting 11-of-16 from the floor over the first 10 minutes and taking the 28-16 lead.

Into the second quarter Haley Archibeque sparked the Maple Leaf offense, using a layup and 3-pointer as Goshen cut the deficit to eight heading into halftime, outscoring the Eagles 13-9 to pull within 37-29.

The third quarter featured a plurality of Judson's offense: as Emylyn Wright and Jayla Barrett combined for all 22 points in the stanza for the Eagles, taking a 59-43 lead into the final 10 minutes. Wright finished with 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting while grabbing a game-high nine rebounds; teammate Jayla Barrett had nine boards of her own to complement her 17 points on the day.

Seven Maple Leafs added to the scorebook in the fourth, including the first career points for first-years Makayla Collier and Logan Kyre, but Goshen's depth fell short of Judson's breadth when the final horn sounded.

Goshen shot 25-of-66 (37.9 percent) from the field, knocking down six 3-pointers in 17 attempts on the evening and making 6 of 11 free throws for a 54.5 percent clip. Judson went 27-of-58 (46.6 percent) from the floor; while Goshen held JU to 3-of-17 from behind the arc as well, the Eagles were 24-of-41 (58.5 percent) inside the stripe and 22-of-26 (84.6 percent) from the foul line.

The Maple Leafs forced 17 turnovers while committing 14 of their own. Each team grabbed 36 rebounds throughout the contest, with Roasa being joined by teammates Claire Rauck and Donnae Lipinski for the team-high of five rebounds apiece.

Judson's Maggie Mahar led all players with four assists, the only player with more than two, while O'Neal added a game-high two blocks.

The Maple Leafs look to right the ship as return home for a four-game homestand in Gunden Gymnasium, starting on Wednesday when they host the University of Michigan-Dearborn for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
