GOSHEN, Ind. — Gabby Williams recorded a team-high 16 points and 10 rebounds on 8-for-11 shooting as the Goshen College women's basketball team fell to visiting Bethel College 65-52 Wednesday night in Gunden Gymnasium.

The Maple Leafs (13-12, 7-6 Crossroads League) were also led by Lynnia Noel, who contributed 14 points and a team-high 4 assists. Caitlyn O'Neal chipped in 7 points off the bench and Haley Archibeque added 6, with O'Neal adding a pair of assists and going a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line.

Bethel's Savannah Bley scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed 11 boards to lead all players. Kamala Glenn added 10 points for the visitors (8-17, 5-8)  and Macie Hinen dished out a game-high 7 assists.

The Leafs held a 11-10 lead after the opening quarter before Bethel outscored them 18-8 in the second quarter to take a 28-19 lead into halftime. Goshen was able to stay with the Pilots throughout the second half, but Bethel put the game away with late free throws.

"Give all the credit to Bethel tonight: they have been a team on a roll and it showed," said Goshen coach Stephanie Miller. "Eric (Gingerich) had his team prepared and confident, while we looked like we were still trying to find ourselves, and February is too late for that."

GC shot 41.2 percent (21-of-51) from the field but could only muster one made 3-pointer, from Noel. Bethel shot 47.9 percent (23-for-48) from the field and 45.5 percent (5-for-11) from beyond the arc.

Archibeque and Kelsey Fraley each grabbed three boards for the Maple Leafs, with O'Neal, Angela McLean and Donnae Lipinski recording two each. Williams, McLean and O'Neal each also added blocks.

The Leafs caused 25 turnovers while only committing 20 of their own, but were outrebounded 37-25.

Williams' double-double was her fourth in as many career outings against Bethel, but the Pilots snapped a five-game head-to-head losing streak at Goshen's expense.

"Gabby Williams did a fine job on the glass and I really respect the hustle and effort of Kelsey Fraley," Miller said. "She just gives you 100 percent every time out. As a team, we will get back to practice, try to put the pieces together, and be more prepared for Saturday."

Goshen will be back in action on Saturday when it travels to Fort Wayne to play the University of Saint Francis, with the game set for 1 p.m.
