Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. — A set of four first-quarter 3-pointers staked the Goshen College women's basketball team to an early lead Saturday afternoon, but 19th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University turned up the pressure and came away with a 73-61 Crossroads League victory at Gunden Gymnasium.
Alyson Prigge gave Goshen its first lead of the game at 7-4 four minutes in before Caitlyn O'Neal and Graysen Cockerham combined for a 9-2 run that put the Maple Leafs up by seven points late in the first quarter. GC led 22-18 at the quarter behind 8-of-13 (62 percent) shooting and ball movement that created 5 assists.
The Wildcats (18-8, 11-3) took their first lead 7:14 before halftime on an Elaina Ededuwa basket, only to watch the Maple Leafs (8-18, 1-13) counter with another Cockerham triple, a steal and a Mariah Roe score for a 30-26 lead. IWU's defense limited Goshen to one more field goal in the quarter as the Wildcats led 42-32 at the intermission.
IWU shot 8-for-12 in the third quarter, getting three scores from Nicole Ignasiak and pulling down 11 rebounds to Goshen's 7 to extend its lead, before the Maple Leafs shot 9-of-17 and outrebounded the Wildcats 10-4 in the final 10 minutes. Alyson Prigge scored 5 points and Cockerham and Murff added 4 apiece as the Maple Leafs drew closer to contention.
Cockerham scored 13 points and Mariah Roe had 11 to lead Goshen, which had two players score in double figures and three more finish on 8 or 9. Roe and Logan Kyre pulled down 6 rebounds apiece, splitting the team lead, and Roe led the team with 4 assists. Keyaira Murff blocked 4 shots to lead GC.
Ignasiak added a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, making her one of four Wildcats to score in double figures. Ededuwa added 7 rebounds and Carly Lange led all players with 5 assists; Margot Woughter added 4 dimes to go with 16 points.
