Box Score NEW ALBANY, Ind. — Haylee Pennington posted double-digit kills for the third time in the last four matches, recording 13 winners Friday night as the Goshen College women's volleyball team lost in three sets at Indiana University Southeast.
The Grenadiers won 25-14, 25-20, 25-23 and hit above .200 in all three sets.
Lindsey Howell led IUS (4-1) with a double-double, posting 12 kills and 10 digs. Alexis Bassett added 10 winners while Kenna Burman paced all players with 17 digs. Jennie Malone added 4 blocks.
The Maple Leafs (4-5) got 12 digs from Jennifer Ritchie and 10 from Tessa Clark. Taylor Eash sparked the defense at the net with 3 blocks. Ally Roehr had Goshen's lone ace and 25 assists.
Goshen hit .137 for the match, posting 29 kills on 102 swings and recording 15 errors. The hitting percentage peaked at .250 in the second set after IU Southeast held the Maple Leafs below .100 in the first and third sets.
Goshen concludes its season-opening 10-match road trip on Saturday with a visit to Campbellsville University in Kentucky; first serve is set for 1 p.m.
