Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. — Mariah Roe led the Goshen College women's basketball team with 13 points Wednesday evening in a 70-62 loss to Indiana Wesleyan University in Crossroads League action at Gunden Gymnasium.
TaNiece Chapman led all players with 7 rebounds to go with 12 points for the Maple Leafs (7-10, 0-5). Alyson Prigge scored 10 and Keyaira Murff added 9 in 14 minutes off the bench.
The Wildcats (12-5, 3-2) got 17 points apiece from Dayton Groninger and Madison Davis, the latter of whom made 5 three-pointers to account for all but two of her points. Adrianna Trexler added 10 points off the bench and Anne Secrest matched Groninger with a team-high 5 rebounds.
The Maple Leafs went 16-for-21 (76 percent) at the foul line, making 14 in a row in a span from the first quarter to the fourth, and connected on 6 of their 8 three-point attempts. Prigge was perfect with a pair of triple tries and four other players had one apiece.
Indiana Wesleyan shot 52 percent from the floor and 12-for-16 at the foul line in addition to winning the battle on the boards 26-24. Each team came in among the NAIA leaders in rebounding margin.
Indiana Wesleyan never trailed in the game, opening the first quarter with 9 straight points, but never led by more than 10. It was 18-11 at the quarter, 35-28 at halftime and 50-44 through three periods. Goshen closed the gap to two points or fewer on five separate occasions.
GC turned the ball over a season-low 10 times while forcing 11 turnovers. The Maple Leafs' last three games with 10 or fewer giveaways have all come against the Wildcats, a streak that dates back to their conference tournament meeting in 2016.
Goshen hits the road for the first time in 2020 this weekend with a trip to Indianapolis to meet NAIA Division II no. 5 Marian University. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
