Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. — TaNiece Chapman came up a rebound short of a double-double on Saturday, scoring 13 points to lead the Goshen College women's basketball team in a 65-41 loss to NAIA Division II no. 11 Saint Francis in a Crossroads League contest at USF's Hutzell Athletic Center.
The Cougars got a game-high 15 points from Savannah Buck, one more than they got from Lauren McBryar, and forced 22 turnovers to move to 19-4 overall and 10-2 in conference play.
Goshen (8-16, 1-11) also got 10 points from Graysen Cockerham and 9 from Claire Rauck, who dialed long distance three times and connected on each one. Cockerham and Janara Flowers each added 6 rebounds while senior Alyson Prigge led the team with 3 assists. Chapman also contributed three steals.
Goshen controlled the glass, getting 36 rebounds to USF's 24, and shot 41 percent overall and 39 percent from 3-point range. The Cougars had slightly better shooting figures, 46 percent overall and 48 percent from distance, while posting a 10-2 advantage at the foul line.
Saint Francis led 31-17 at halftime and finished with a 22-5 edge in points off turnovers, accounting for the bulk of the 24-point margin. It was 48-27 after three periods and USF outscored Goshen 17-14 in the fourth.
Goshen returns home to Gunden Gymnasium on Wednesday for its antepenultimate home game of the regular season, a 7 p.m. tip-off against Huntington University.
