GOSHEN, Ind. - The women's soccer team lost 2-0 to Lourdes on Saturday night in Goshen. The Gray Wolves scored their two goals in the 31st and 38th minutes.
Rachel Nelson scored the first Lourdes goal on a pass from Karlie Heilman. Less than seven minutes later, Goshen's
Eliana Lang was called for a foul in the box, receiving a yellow card and awarding Lourdes a penalty kick in the process. Taylir Lynam found the back of the net and made it 2-0.
Goshen had more shots than Lourdes in the first half and finished with more shots on goal - 10-6. Emmy Rodger, the goalkeeper for the visitors, made ten saves through the night.
Amy Drew had three shots, and all three were on target.
Sophia Yoder and
Anita Tavares had two shots on goal and Yoder led the team with four total shots.
Lexy Adamczyk,
Madalyne Swallow and
Brynja Hjartardottir also had multiple shot attempts.
Goshen and Lourdes had played to scoreless ties the last two years. In 2021, Goshen won 1-0. The Maple Leafs are at Holy Cross College on Tuesday, September 3, at 5:30 pm.
