Box Score WINONA LAKE, Ind. — For the third time in four games, the Goshen College women's soccer team posted double-digit saves Tuesday night. They even got a goal courtesy of sophomore Lena Charles. But for the third time in four games, it wasn't enough as the Maple Leafs dropped a 3-1 decision at Grace College in Crossroads League play.
Charles scored 14:47 after the intermission for her first goal of the year, but her score cut into a 2-0 deficit after the Lancers added two goals of their own in the first half. Natalie Thorne made 12 saves, her third-highest total of the season, in goal.
The Maple Leafs put three other attempts on frame besides Charles' goal in the second half but were unable to capitalize. Meghan Wiles of Grace added an insurance goal in the 79th minute to set the final score.
Goshen now sits at 4-10-1 this season and 0-5-1 in conference play, while Grace improves to 11-1-2 and 3-1-2. Goshen plays its final road game of the season on Saturday when it visits St. Francis for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
