USF Scores Early, Often In Upending Women

Box Score

The Goshen College women's soccer team concluded the road portion of its 2015 regular-season schedule Saturday night when they dropped a 7-0 decision to the University of St. Francis at Bishop D'Arcy Stadium in Fort Wayne.

Heather Jones of St. Francis took six shots and found the back of the net four times. Mackenzie Starcevich added a brace with two goals of her own. Paige Berg scored the remaining goal, while Jones, Starcevich and Kristin Strout all recorded assists.

The Maple Leafs attempted three shots, with senior Maria Bischoff putting hers on frame. Madeline Birky and Ginyce Haywood also tried their luck in shooting. On the other end of the field, Natalie Thorne made six saves.

Goshen returns home to close out the regular season next week, hosting Bethel on Wednesday night at 7:30 and Huntington on Saturday night at 7:00. The Maple Leafs will likely need wins in both games to earn a spot in the Crossroads League tournament, but do not figure to need the help of tiebreakers if they do so.

Goshen falls to 5-10-1, including 0-5-1 in league play: St. Francis is 4-3 in the conference and 10-6 overall.
