Darienne Maust led Goshen College with eight kills and six blocks Friday night in a 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 loss to league-leading Marian University at the Physical Education Center in Indianapolis.

The Knights (13-2, 5-0), who were the second-highest Crossroads League team in last week's NAIA top 25 coaches poll, never trailed in any set after the first eight points. Goshen would close to within two points twice in the opening stanza, but Marian used 5-0 runs in each of the final two sets to break them open and finish off the sweep in an hour and 19 minutes.

MU posted 46 kills to Goshen's 26. For the hosts, Kacee Salyers posted 10 winners on 23 swings without an error, while Frannie Stephenson added nine spikes of her own. Natalie Omtvedt and Christy Swartzendruber each accumulated six kills for GC (7-8, 0-4).

Ally Roehr and Hallie Vantivelt each posted 10 assists for the Maple Leafs, although both players fell short of match leader Julie Hoying, who had 19 of Marian's 43 dimes. Each team finished with seven blocks, which combined to represent almost half of the attack errors in the match.

Swartzendruber paced GC with 18 digs, two shy of Marian's Vanessa Lay for the match high.

The Maple Leafs' road doesn't get much easier on Saturday as they continue a three-match road trip by facing the number-20 team in the nation. Goshen College visits Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion at 3 p.m.
