Eash spikes 10 in loss to Indiana Wesleyan

GOSHEN, Ind. — The Goshen College women's volleyball team took the first set, but fourth-ranked Indiana Wesleyan won the match in four sets Wednesday night in a Crossroads League women's volleyball match at Gunden Gymnasium. The Wildcats won 22-25, 25-10, 25-19, 25-7.

Taylor Eash led the Maple Leafs (5-14, 0-7) with 10 kills and a .250 hitting percentage. Tessa Clark paced the team with 16 digs and Ally Roehr and Jennifer Ritchie had 12 apiece. Olivia Koop contributed 7 winners and a block.

For the Wildcats (18-0, 7-0), Marci Miller led all players with 18 kills; Rachel Klitzing had 17 and Kelly Miller added 14. Alex Falcone assisted on 54 of the 58 kills. Havyn Gates had a match-high 18 digs; Ana Collar added 16 and Falcone chipped in 13 as well.

The first set was tied at 11 of the first 13 opportunities before the Wildcats crept ahead 15-13 on back-to-back points. They ran that lead out as far as 20-17 before Goshen unleashed a 7-1 run, getting a pair of Eash winners and four IWU errors sprinkled in. The Wildcats never trailed in the second set, jumping out to an 8-4 lead, or the fourth set, which they led 6-2.

The Maple Leafs play their first road game in more than two weeks on Friday night, traveling to Spring Arbor University in Michigan for a 7 p.m. first serve in the McDonald Athletic Center.
